Terms of Contribution

Last updated 2026-08-25. These terms apply when you submit anything through /contribute/.

No automatic publication

Submitting a proposal, draft, or correction does not publish it. Every submission is reviewed under the Editorial Policy before any decision is made, and you will be notified of the outcome.

What you're confirming when you submit

Attribution and license

If accepted and published, your report is attributed to you (or a byline you specify) via an entry in data/authors.json. You retain authorship credit. Unless you and the editorial team agree otherwise in writing, published reports are made available on the same terms as the rest of the site's editorial content — publicly readable, with attribution required for reuse. If you need a specific license arrangement, raise it before submitting via Contact.

Withdrawing a submission

You may withdraw a pending (not-yet-published) submission at any time by contacting us — see Contact. Once a report is published, a withdrawal request is handled as a correction or removal request under the Corrections Policy, since removing already-public content is a different action than declining an unpublished draft.

No compensation implied

Contributions to Terrorism Portal are currently unpaid unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
